Teacher FAQ

For any additional questions, concerns, or ideas, please reach out to teach@irid.space.

When are applications due?

June 29th, 11:59PM EST.

Are there any other steps to the selection process?

We may reach out to applicants to chat and ask clarifying questions during the review process, but no formal interviews will be conducted. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and if you are chosen to be part of our fall cohort, you will be informed at the latest by July 10th.

What can I expect if I'm selected as a teacher?

After our cohort is selected, we will kick off the summer with a teacher retreat, where we’ll get to know one another and begin laying the foundations for curriculum development. Over the rest of the summer, teachers will meet in groups as well as with the irid coaching team 1:1 weekly to continue refining their content and teaching plans. Feedback and support sessions will continue both formally and informally throughout the fall semester; these collaborations are the primary focus of the program.

When do classes begin / how long will they run for?

Courses will be announced and enrollment will open in mid August. Classes are slated to begin in late September, running through late fall/early winter. We envision courses to run weekly for anywhere between 6 and 12 weeks, depending on course content.

How big are classes? Where will they be held?

Class size is flexible – we’re ready to support anything from a small seminar to a decent-sized lecture hall – and will be curated based on course and teacher preferences. We are in conversation with various venues around the city, including classic university halls and historic meeting places, and will match teachers with a room that works best for their location and anticipated class size.
